Manderson Executive MBA Streamlines Instruction for Busy Working Professionals

The Executive MBA program offered by The University of Alabama’s Manderson Graduate School of Business announces new features to its curriculum to better accommodate the schedules of busy working professionals.

A new streamlined format for the program – both in its Tuscaloosa and Huntsville-based tracks – offers a blend of in-person, classroom instruction and online learning. As a result, students can now earn their Executive MBA from UA in just 17 months via 34 in-class days.

This is in response to feedback from students that the previous format that required two weekends a month over 17 months was challenging to accommodate with work schedules and family obligations.

Class sessions will now be held on Fridays and Saturdays in one weekend a month with online course instruction and faculty support between in-person sessions.

Furthermore, the immersive international study trip is now optional to allow students to save on their EMBA experience. Previous study trips have gone to South Africa, Peru, Ecuador, and other locations to meet with and learn from local entrepreneurs and business executives and to gain an understanding of business as it applies to international settings.

In Time to Apply

The moves come ahead of the start of the Huntsville track in August 2020, which has July 6 as the last day to apply; the Tuscaloosa track starts in January 2021 with a deadline to apply on October 19, 2020.

About the changes, Donna Blackburn, director of the EMBA program, said, “We are responding to feedback from our students and greater industry trends with how we’ve reworked our curriculum.”

“Now more than ever, The University of Alabama EMBA is the right choice for a mid-career manager or executive looking to not only gain hard skills, but also build professional connections.”
