Accounting professor earns lifetime achievement award

Linda Parsons

Professor of Accounting Linda Parsons recently received the Enduring Lifetime Achievement Award from the Government & Nonprofit Section of the American Accounting Association. The award is given for achievement in research, teaching, and service to or practice in the field of government and nonprofit accounting.

Parson’s research is widely cited (over 3,100 citations) and published in a variety of outlets, including The Accounting Review, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Journal of Business Ethics, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Nonprofit & Voluntary Sector Quarterly, and Journal of Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting. Her research focuses primarily on nonprofit organizations but touches many facets, including donor decision making, healthcare financial reporting, fraud risk assessment, compensation, audit quality, and earnings management.

Parsons has served many roles with AAA and GNP, including president, secretary-treasurer, southeast regional representative, AAA council representative, newsletter editor, and on various committees. For the AAA, she served on the governance committee and currently serves on the board of directors.
