In the midst of the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Culverhouse has rallied to the call to help and make a difference. Read a special statement and watch a video from Culverhouse Dean Kay Palan about how the College is approaching challenges presented by the pandemic.

Among many actions taken across the College, below are some highlights:

This past Tuesday, Culverhouse LIFT hosted a webinar presented by Lisa McKinney and Karen Miller of the Culverhouse School of Accountancy that discussed the coronavirus relief programs made available to small business owners. Access the presentation, supporting materials, and view the complete webinar here.

And in addition to the PPE crowdfunding campaign highlighted in this newsletter, Culverhouse‘s Alabama Productivity Center has also been producing PPE in a collaborative effort that has grown to include Alabama Power, Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, the UAB School of Engineering, and more. According to APC Executive Director Alan Hill, this true collaboration has streamlined the production process so that better-quality face masks are produced faster, ensuring that more front-line healthcare workers are protected.

Experts in Culverhouse‘s Center for Business and Economic Research have been offering their insights to media outlets and in research briefs. Sam Addy, Associate Dean for Economic Development Outreach & Senior Research Economist, and Ahmad Ijaz, CBER’s Executive Director & Director of Economic Forecasting weigh in with what we can expect in our local and national economies in the coming months in this article.
