TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama will hold its summer commencement exercise Aug. 5 at Coleman Coliseum on the UA campus.
More than 750 undergraduates and graduate students representing all schools and colleges are expected to participate in the ceremony, which begins at 9 a.m. UA anticipates awarding 1,442 degrees.
Dr. Elizabeth K. Wilson, senior associate dean and professor in the UA College of Education, will serve as commencement marshal. Her career of teaching, research and service has focused on teacher education and school-university initiatives. This work includes grants that have provided more than $3 million to local schools.
Wilson has received national awards for her research and has been recognized for outstanding teaching and service, including the Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award and the Paul W. Bryant Professorship for Teaching. In 2016, she was one of 50 educators from across the nation invited to a White House summit on educational technology in teacher education.
The ceremony will be broadcast live at ua.edu/commencement/ and will be archived on the same page for 30 days following the ceremony.
