The Selma Resilience Initiative harnesses the academic expertise and business acumen of The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business to positively impact the economic development and community vitality of Selma, Alabama through collaborative partnerships.

Selma Business Pitch Competition

On March 12, Selma and Dallas County residents can pitch their business ideas for a chance to win $1,000 to help bring their vision to life. The competition will be held Carneal Arts Revive — 3 Church St, Selma, AL 36701. The deadline to register is March 9 at 11:59 p.m.

Rules for Entry
  • There is no entry fee to attend or participate in Selma River Pitch.
  • Teams must register by the deadline.
  • The competition is open to students and community members.
  • Competitors must reside within Selma/ Dallas County.
  • This competition is geared towards early-stage businesses/ideas.
  • The venue will be divided into several different booths for the competition. Teams only pitch at their designated booth and judges will determine the booth winner.
  • The presenter may use notecards or showcase a prop/prototype to help convey the idea. However, no slides/presentations will be allowed.
  • Contestants will have up to 3 minutes to pitch and up to 5 minutes to answer questions from the judges.
  • All ideas pitched must be the original work of the entrants.
