Courtney Hanson is currently the Managing Director of the Institute for Business Analytics. Her expertise are in areas of project management, data mining and management, and analytic study design. Currently, Mrs. Hanson’s primary role is to provide statistical and analytic support to the Office of Quality Analytics within the State of Alabama’s Medicaid Agency. Her focus consists mainly of measuring quality in Alabama’s Medicaid programs and improving the collection and use of healthcare data. During her graduate work, she held graduate assistantships for The University of Alabama’s Healthcare Insurance Administration (HCIA) and the department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science (ISM). In her position with HCIA, Mrs. Hanson aided in ensuring compliance and analyzing trends for the University’s group health plan for faculty and staff. As a graduate research assistant in the ISM department, she assisted Dr. Jason Parton with campus-wide research efforts which included applied statistics, data management, and statistical consulting that supports extramurally funded research.
Prior to her time at UA, Mrs. Hanson has had relevant experience in data management in the private business sector, where she spent seven years in retail management that included working with a 20,000 plus customer database.
