Culverhouse Undergrads Win at Vermont

Case Team

Competing against 12 teams from across seven countries Culverhouse’s undergraduate Case Team brought home first place at the 12th annual Schlesinger Global Family Enterprise Case Competition, hosted by the University of Vermont Grossman School of Business.

Teams faced a different family business-related case each day of the four-day competition and only had four hours to analyze the case and offer effective solutions.  The team of undergraduate students impressed judges throughout the competition, including the final presentation on Firmenich, a Swiss family enterprise in the fragrance and flavor industry.

The team’s strategic recommendations included restructuring governance by introducing a new Vice President of Inclusive Development role to align strategy and values consistently across all levels of the organization.

Represented by Joe Clark, Angel Peterson, Ella Foes and Bailey Liddle, Culverhouse proved the ability to act under pressure without the use of any outside resources. Foes was also awarded the title of Best Presenter in the final round, showcasing outstanding communication and delivery.

Furthermore, this is a series of firsts: this was the first competition ever for the Culverhouse undergraduate Case Team program, all the participants were rookies to case team competitions in general, and it was Culverhouse’s first time competing at the University of Vermont.
