Culverhouse Professor to Lead Top Business Journal

Voorhees

Dr. Clay Voorhees was recently introduced as the co-editor of the Journal of Service Research (JSR), which is widely considered the world’s leading service research journal and a top business journal. He previously served as an associate editor for JSR.

The Journal of Service Research publishes papers on a wide range of topics including services marketing, customer experience management, service operations, digital services, and the organizational frontline. The journal places a specific emphasis on managerial relevance of the research published to bridge the gap between service research and practice.

Voorhees is the Morris Mayer Endowed Chair of Teaching Excellence in Marketing and professor of marketing at Culverhouse.

Professor Voorhees’ research has been widely published in top business journals such as the Journal of Service Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, and other outlets in marketing, management, and supply chain management.

When asked about this new role, Voorhees said, “The University of Alabama has a rich history as being a leading source for service research and I am excited to help extend that reputation along with other faculty in the department who publish and review top-tier service research.”

In addition to Dr. Voorhees’ role as a co-editor, several other marketing faculty serve in editorial roles with the Journal of Service Research. Dr. Tom Baker is an associate editor and Drs. Sharon Beatty, Carol Jones, and Stacey Robinson are members of its editorial review board.

Moreover, the Culverhouse marketing department is ranked 6th in the world with respect to number of papers published in JSR over the past three years.

Dr. Voorhees’s term started on August 7th and runs through the end of 2025.
