TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama will hold its winter commencement exercises Saturday, Dec. 16, at Coleman Coliseum on the UA campus.
The ceremonies will be held at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. More than 2,200 diplomas are scheduled to be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students from all colleges and schools.
Students from the Culverhouse College of Commerce, College of Communication & Information Sciences, College of Engineering, School of Social Work and School of Law will participate in the 9 a.m. ceremony.
Students from the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Education, College of Human Environmental Sciences and the Capstone College of Nursing will participate in the 1:30 p.m. ceremony.
Dr. Ken Wright, professor of sports management in the College of Human Environmental Sciences, will serve as commencement marshal. Wright joined the UA faculty in 1988 and has focused his research on ethics and integrity in anti-doping in sports, health-related medical information for sports participants, and preventive techniques in sports medicine.
Wright has authored three textbooks, 13 videos, two software programs, numerous scholarly articles, and has secured research and external educational grants. Recently, Wright was re-appointed as a member of the board of directors of the United States Anti-Doping Agency and continues to work with the United States Olympic Committee as an educator and invited presenter at international meetings in sports business, anti-doping and sports medicine.
The ceremony will be broadcast live over the Internet. The webcast will be archived at ua.edu/commencement/, and it will be available for viewing for 30 days following the ceremony.
