TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama will hold its winter commencement exercises Dec. 10 at Coleman Coliseum on the UA campus.
The ceremonies will be held at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. More than 2,200 diplomas are scheduled to be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students from all colleges and schools.
Students from the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Education, College of Human Environmental Sciences and the Capstone College of Nursing will participate in the 9 a.m. ceremony. Students from the Culverhouse College of Commerce, College of Communication & Information Sciences, College of Engineering, School of Social Work and School of Law will participate in the 1:30 p.m. ceremony.
Dr. Forrest Scogin, professor in the UA department of psychology, will serve as commencement marshal. Scogin joined the psychology faculty at UA in 1984. He is described as a dedicated trainer of clinical psychology doctoral students, and he has taught basic therapy skills as well as specialized therapy skills for treating older adults.
Additionally, Scogin offers memory assessment clinics for older adults in the community. He recently received the American Psychological Association’s Award for the Advancement of Psychology and Aging. He received the M. Powell Lawton Distinguished Contribution for Clinical Geropsychology Award in 2008 and 2014.
The ceremony will be broadcast live over the Internet. The webcast will be archived at ua.edu/commencement/, and it will be available for viewing for 30 days following the ceremony.
