The Dean’s Leadership Scholar Program is a leadership development program for incoming freshmen to the Culverhouse College of Business. Dean’s Leadership Scholars are actively engaged in a specialized program exposing them to leadership theory and style, ethical leadership principles, self-awareness of leadership abilities, and it facilitates the development of their leadership abilities through knowledge and practice. Scholars meet with the dean regularly to study and talk about leadership, but they also receive mentoring from successful alumni and business people, attend lectures and presentations by business leaders from around the country, engage in community service activities, and are special guests at luncheons with visiting executives and scholars.
Highly selective, the Dean’s Leadership Scholar Program is open by invitation to both in-state and out-of-state students. The program is limited to 20 students per year. Participants selected for the program are required to fully participate in all program activities/requirements, which includes attending meetings approximately every two weeks throughout the fall and spring semester.
To apply, students must complete the online application form and submit a current resume along with a short essay as part of the selection process. Applications will be accepted through August 20, 2025. Decision letters will be mailed to all applicants on or about August 25, 2025.
