About the Speakers

Blakley’s responsibilities include providing oversight and direction for the GulfQuest operation in Mobile, EDGE Labs, UA Center for Economic Development, and the business outreach centers, including the Alabama International Trade Center, Alabama Small Business Development Center, and the Alabama Procurement Technical Assistance Center. He helped establish The EDGE and served as an adviser and mentor for entrepreneurial teams participating in Crimson Startup, a National Science Foundation-funded I-Corp program. He founded American Renewable Metals LLC, a Tuscaloosa-based technology company.
Lauren A. Wilson, JD
Assistant Vice President for Research and Technology Agreements and Interim Director, Office for Innovation and Commercialization
Wilson’s responsibilities include legal review and compliance for all units within the Office for Research and Economic Development. Wilson manages and supervises the Office for Research and Technology Agreements and the Office for Innovation and Commercialization. She is responsible for the management and supervision of the sub-award process within the Office for Sponsored Programs, the Patent Administrator for the President’s Patent Committee protecting UA intellectual property, supervision and management of all industry contracts and relations as well as supervision of data sharing and security procedures for the Office for Research and Economic Development.
