The University of Alabama’s MBA Case Team was runner-up at the IDEAcorps MBA Consulting Challenge at Loyola New Orleans on March 10.
The UA team of Gabe Gros, Olivia Cole, Owen Hayden, and Sam Flaute had six weeks to work with Sinkco Labs, a start-up that injects biomass to combat coastal erosion and enable long-term carbon sequestration.
The team developed a strategy that would support Sinkco’s ability to earn valuable credentials, build key relationships and expand their geographic footprint. Their winning strategy provided $2,000 to their partner, Sinkco Labs, and $1,500 to the team.
“We were very lucky that our start-up partner (Sinkco Labs) was personable, understanding and committed to working with us,” said Gros. “I enjoyed building a strong connection with our client as it helped us deliver measurable impact to their business during the six weeks of working together.”
Said Flaute, “It was such a rewarding week – not just for the competition, but for getting to see how much innovation is actually happening in New Orleans right now.”
