The University of Alabama's Executive MBA (EMBA) program requires a minimum of five years of professional work experience, active support by your current employer, an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution with a solid grade point average (prefer 3.0 GPA or better) and letters of recommendation from your employer and/or clients. Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 may be considered for acceptance by submitting a GMAT (500) or GRE (300) score. Click here to request information now!
Prospective students for UA EMBA must complete the following six application steps.
1. Complete the Graduate School application
To apply for UA EMBA, prospective students must use The University of Alabama’s Graduate School application which included a non refundable $65 application fee for U.S. citizens and permanent residents and a non refundable $80 application fee for international students. The application fee is waived for US Military Veterans, contact the UA Graduate School using this link - Veteran Application Fee Waiver. If you are an international student applying for the graduate school, please use the International Application. Be sure to select Executive Business Administration, MBA as your proposed major.
For Tuscaloosa program applicants, select Main Campus as the place of initial enrollment. Select Spring 2019 as the Proposed Entrance Term. Application deadline is October 26, 2017.
For Huntsville program applicants, select Huntsville EMBA as the place of initial enrollment. Select Fall 2018 as the Proposed Entrance Term. Application deadline is July 6, 2018.

2. GMAT or GRE score
The GMAT or GRE exam is no longer required for EMBA applicants who meet specific criteria established by the Manderson Graduate School of Business. To qualify for this exemption, an applicant must have strong work experience (at least five years) and an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better OR have already earned another master's degree. Please contact the EMBA office for additional information on this policy. For EMBA applicants with a GPA below 3.0, EMBA requires a 500 on the GMAT or 300 on the GRE. Please request that official scores be sent to The University of Alabama. Our GRE institution code is 1830.
3. Complete the Admissions Questions Document
Please respond to the Admissions Questions and email your responses to Cheryl Altemara. This replaces the Statement of Purpose required by the Graduate School. Contact Cheryl Altemara at 205.348.4501 or email@example.com for the Admissions Questions document.
4. Provide Two Letters of Recommendation
Applicants must submit two professional letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation may be mailed or emailed to the EMBA office. If emailed, they must be sent from the account of the letter’s author to Cheryl Altemara. One letter must be from your supervisor, the second letter may be from another person within your company or a client. 5. Request College Transcripts
College transcripts must be requested from all institutions where you attended and earned 15 credit hours or more, and must be sealed with a registrar stamp or be sent electronically from your institution to email@example.com. International transcripts must be written in English or accompanied by an English translation provided by the issuing institution.

6. Participate in Personal Interview and Provide Résumé
A personal interview is required for all applicants. The hour-long interview may be conducted at any time during the application process.
Once your file is complete, it goes before the Admissions Committee, and is processed immediately. Applicants will be notified of the decision by both the EMBA Office and the Graduate School Office. Students are responsible for securing their own lodging throughout both program options.
For HEMBA students, lodging in Tuscaloosa is provided for the program orientation and class sessions held in Tuscaloosa during the first semester of the program. Lodging is provided during the international immersion as well.

The Mitchell Scholarship is awarded to incoming students who present evidence of exceptional academic ability, substantial professional experience, and who can also demonstrate financial need. Evidence of academic ability may be presented by scoring a minimum of 600 on the GMAT or 309 on the GRE. Substantial professional experience is decided on a case by case basis, but in general is defined by seven or more years of work experience in a leadership or management role. Students demonstrating financial need are those with no, or very little, outside financial support. For example; no employer tuition assistance or military education benefits. UA EMBA may award up to three Mitchell Scholarship Awards annually, valued at $5,000 each.
Military and Women Candidates
VETERANS’ AWARD: EMBA students who have exhausted their GI Bill benefits may receive a program discount of $4,500 if they apply by the early deadline of July 6, 2018 for HEMBA and October 26, 2018 for TEMBA. Those who are eligible for full tuition and fees coverage through GI Bill benefits or are fully sponsored by their company, are not eligible for this award.

DIVERSITY AWARD: UA EMBA may award two Diversity Scholarships of up to $15,000 in value each to candidates representing diverse backgrounds. Diversity can be exhibited through educational and professional experience, unique career goals, ethnicity and citizenship. Application for this award must be made by the stated deadline for each program. The award recipients are announced prior to orientation for each cohort.
CIVILIAN WOMEN IN DEFENSE AND TECHNOLOGY: Women UA EMBA students working in defense or technology industries may be eligible for a CWDT scholarship award up to $10,000. The recipient must be a fully accepted student (minimum 3.0 GPA and five years of professional work experience) to the EMBA program and able to demonstrate financial need. UA EMBA may award up to two CWDT scholarships annually.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN EMBA AND A TRADITIONAL MBA PROGRAM?
An Executive MBA program differs from other kinds of MBA programs in the following ways: EMBAs continue to work while they study; they are also generally more experienced. EMBA students also enter as a group (or cohort) and remain with the same class throughout the course of the program. In addition, the EMBA programs usually offer additional support for students, including staff support, meals, and other amenities, so students with busy schedules can focus on learning.

The Tuscaloosa EMBA classes are held in the Bryant Conference Center at The University of Alabama. The Huntsville EMBA classes are held in the College of Business Administration Building at UAHuntsville. All EMBA students have easy access to a wide array of student services including career services, library resources, technical support plus many other cultural and academic resources of the university.
CAN I ATTEND A CLASS BEFORE APPLYING TO THE PROGRAM?

WHAT DEGREE DOES THE STUDENT EARN?
The University of Alabama awards the same M.B.A. degree as the traditional full-time program, with very similar rigorous curriculum, and taught by the same world-class faculty. The degree is a M.B.A. degree.
HOW IS THE EMBA DEGREE DIFFERENT FROM A REGULAR MBA?
The UA EMBA is a general management degree program. This lock-step program is taught in an accelerated pace. Students must have a minimum of five years of work experience. The full-time M.B.A. degree offered by the UA Manderson Graduate School of Business is a two-year program that offers seven concentrations. The full-time M.B.A. program does not include an international study trip at this time

WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL IMMERSION SESSION?
This session integrates many of the concepts participants have studied across a wide range of disciplines; providing a comprehensive understanding of economic, political and cultural issues in a particular country. The eight to ten day study abroad seminar includes company visits and meetings with local business leaders and government officials. The EMBA Class of 2018 will be visiting Peru and Ecuador during their international immersion session.
