Honors Achievements & Affiliations

Dr. Melouk joined the Operations Management (OM) faculty in 2007 and currently serves as the OM doctoral program coordinator. He is also the faculty advisor for the student chapter of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).

Dr. Melouk is an active member of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS) with a current focus on Analytics initiatives. As such he is currently serving on the organizing committee for the Meeting of Analytics Program Directors (MAPD). Additionally, he is a co-founder and the current President of the Deep South Chapter of INFORMS. Dr. Melouk actively participates in other professional societies including: Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), and INFORMS Simulation Society (I-Sim).

Dr. Melouk is research active with many publications in high quality journals including: Manufacturing and Service Operations Management (MSOM), IIE Transactions, Omega, Computers and Operations Research, and International Journal of Production Economics (IJPE). He has also obtained research grants through the U.S. Army Research Office, U.S. Air Force Research Labs, University Transportation Center for Alabama, Alabama Council for Entrepreneurship, and several industry organizations. His paper, co-authored with Dr. Burcu Keskin, on team assignment and scheduling of the NCAA basketball tournament was highlighted by ESPN, Fox News, and Culverhouse Executive Magazine. Another paper, co-authored with Dr. Marcus Perry, on optimizing football play calling has also garnered considerable media attention.
