Rishikesh Jena is an Assistant Professor of MIS in the Culverhouse College of Business at the University of Alabama where he has been a faculty member since 2016. Dr. Jena received his Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas (Sam M. Walton College of Business) before arriving at the University of Alabama. As a doctoral student, he was the recipient of the prestigious Doctoral Academy Fellowship, given to the best and brightest of incoming Ph.D. students.
Before pursuing Ph.D., he has consulted numerous organizations in building mission-critical, scalable and robust enterprise applications. He has held various technical leadership positions in mentoring developer teams in the Art & Science of enterprise software development. As a practitioner, he has also contributed to multiple open source projects, specifically in the enterprise web stack. He continues to be very interested in open source initiatives and actively mentors open source enthusiasts and developers.
Dr. Jena currently teaches undergraduate topics in business programming. He has also taught MIS core courses (System Analysis & Design, Capstone Project Development, and Programming courses) at the University of Arkansas.
